In the name of the Father, the Son, and........

We were saying our prayers tonight and helping Ava practice the sign of the cross, when Abby reminded me of a funny story.

One night a few years ago, we were saying prayers when Abby asked a very good question.
Abby:  Mom, if the Father is God, and the Son is Jesus, what's the Holy Spirit's name?
Me: Well, I don't really know if I've ever heard a name for the Holy Spirit.
Abby: Why?
Me:  Because it's just the Holy Spirit.
Abby: But if God and Jesus have names, the Holy Spirit should have a name too.  That's not fair.
Me: What do you think the Holy Spirit's name should be?
Abby: Bubbles.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and Bubbles.  Amen.

Ava funnies...

I just have a couple of funny Ava moments that I want to write down before I forget them.  I can't even imagine all of the things that Abby did that I can't remember now.

Ava has decided that it's funny to lock the door to the car while I am trying to get her out.  I unlock the doors, get out and walk to her door, and she promptly kicks the door lock with her foot......with a huge devious grin on her face.  If the windows weren't so dark, I'd get a picture of it.  The only time I'm successfully opened the door on the first try in the past week is when she took her shoes off in the car.  It apparently hurts to bad to kick the door lock with bare feet.

In the past week, Ava has grown up quite a bit.  Tonight she asked if she could go to Jenning's house.  Jennings is Abby's friend who lives across the street, not Ava's friend.  I guess she thinks she's old enough to walk around the 'hood now.  Note to self: turn the alarm system door chime back on. :)

Ava has also been asking to borrow the car.  She's asked me several times in the past week, and I heard her ask Jake about it once too.  Then, yesterday I saw a commercial.  Yes, the one where the little girl asks to borrow the car.  And I thought our little genius came up with that one on her own.

Easter pics, finally!

For the record, I've been trying to upload these pictures to the blog for over an hour, and I've had to restart it a bajillion times.  Karma for waiting until May to post Easter pics.

Language lesson, Part 3 and a bedtime story...

Here's the third part of your language lesson, a few more terms.

Gwuiwels:  Girls, rhymes with squirrels (kinda)

Fravrit:  Favorite.  "Mom, mackee is my fravrit!"

Mackee:  Macaroni and cheese.  Let's all just shorten it and get to the point.

Wittle:  Nothing to do with wood, this just means little.  For the past 3 days, EVERYTHING has had the word "little" in front of it.  "Mommy! Pwease put my wittle shoes on my wittle toes on my wittle feet." and "I'm not a baby, I'm just wittle."

And now the bedtime story....

Once upon a time, a beautiful mommy was putting her kids to bed.  The oldest read a book to the youngest, and then they all said their prayers (although the youngest still gets a little confused about how to do the sign of the cross).  Beautiful mommy kissed the oldest and tucked her in, and then carried the youngest to bed.  Then, beautiful mommy threw the youngest up in the air and smothered her with kisses.  The youngest said "Mommy, you give me too much kisses!  They are cutiful! (rhymes with beautiful) Now shut my feet.  Good night mommy.  Wub you."

Language lesson, Part 2

Here's a few more words.

Tick:  Kick, as in a ball.  Or Daddy's leg.

Banilwa: Granola.  We have a thing for granola bars in this house.  And Ava loves her Banilwa Bars.

Muse-tick:  Music.  This is my personal favorite.  Jake is constantly playing the guitar, and I am constantly singing.  Ava is taking after both of us.  She loves to sing, play her little guitar, and play my little piano from when I was little. (We won't try to figure out how old it is, okay?)  She often brings me a musical instrument and says "let's do muse-tick! Pway wiff me!"

Free language class!

Visit the Lester house and learn to speak Ava-ese for free!  This language is different from Leeanese (those of you on my side of the family are fluent, and the rest of the world is lost), although just as unique.   Here are a few words to get you started...

Baby Jagwater:  This term is in reference to Diego's friend Baby Jaguar.

Chwocwut: Chocolate, duh.  As in "MOM!!! I NEED MY CHWOCWUT FWUM DA EASTA BUNNY!!!"

Milk and Bunny Milk:  Strawberry milk.  "Mom, can you pwease get me some milk and bunny milk?"  This took us a while to figure out, until she showed us the picture of the Nesquik Bunny. :)

Ceewo Cwunch:  Cereal Crunch.  As in Captain Crunch cereal.

Toppee:   Coffee, of course!

Bago:  Bagel

Bikiss:  Biscuit

Wipe:  White

Gape:  Similar to wipe.....gate.

Pa tot:  Pop Tart.  Not that they ever get them......

Baff:  Bath.

That should be enough to get you started.  Couple these words with fit throwing, food spitting, and lots of hugs, and you should be able to carry on basic conversations with Ava, or as she calls herself, Iba.
